My Approach
So what does it take to heed your healing call?
It starts with the understanding that you can make the biggest difference in your own recovery. That’s why it’s important to believe in the best possible outcome and to dedicate to an approach that nurtures your whole being.
In light of this, I have developed 7 signature principles for healing holistically on your own terms.
These are the same 7 principles that helped me go from cancer patient with decades of chronic illness to thriving and living on my own terms (cancer free over 10 years and counting):
Principle #1 – Embrace a Mindset for Healing
The first and most important step towards self-healing is developing the mental strength and mindset tools to transcend fear and harness your personal power. Your thoughts will help you take charge of your situation with energy and optimism. They can be the catalyst for amazing physical transformation. Or, they can be seriously disempowering and make your efforts ineffective. Your mindset is the foundation, so it comes before all other principles.
Principle #2 – Discover Food as Medicine (and let food do the work)
The second level of taking charge is absolutely essential. It focuses on what you put in your body several times per day… food! Learn how to strategically replace foods that decrease your vitality and start enjoying food as medicine. This will help you feel better and create an internal terrain that is inhospitable to disease, including cancer. When you follow some simple guidelines, and don’t fall into diet fads, discipline around food becomes nourishment and it is likely your body’s biggest ally.
Principle #3 – Explore New Healing Routines
When you’re struggling with illness and especially with cancer, it’s easy to feel at a loss as to what to do. This third principle is implementing simple, yet powerful daily and weekly actions to create a supportive routine. Begin establishing a realistic self-care schedule so that you can be clear on steps to take each day on your healing path. By leveraging repeated actions through routine you will have a greater impact and influence on your health and well-being. Self-healing can feel like a full-time job but once you get this principle down, it becomes a doable lifestyle.
Principle #4 – Unleash Next Level Healing Strategies
Once you have the routine down, it’s time to incorporate other highly targeted at-home approaches in a simple and doable way. These include specific supplements, tactical therapies and self-care techniques designed to put you in the driver’s seat and accelerate your healing journey on your own terms. More ideas for what might be considered at this stage are included in my resources handout (page coming soon on this site)
Principle #5 – Detox and Regenerate
No matter whether you choose (or chose) conventional allopathic medicine, or not, it can be useful to know how to approach your situation using a natural method that taps into your body’s innate cleansing/healing mechanisms. experiment with the practice of regenerative cellular detoxification, so you can experience the strong impact a purely grassroots approach can have. This process can include various types of herbs, liquid fasting, and techniques that ignite the body’s natural detoxification pathways.
Principle #6 – Spiritual Tools for Healing
Cultivating a deeper relationship with your higher power can be so inspiring on a healing journey, and it offers a place for solace and peace. Digging deep and activating the courage and optimism needed to work on self-healing requires faith. Faith can lead to personal transformation and the gift of physical healing. Connect with the divine, in whatever way aligns best with your beliefs, lean into the spiritual aspects of your healing call and know that you have the ultimate support available to you.
Principle #7 – Become Your Own Advocate
This is about self-care mastery, and the tools to weave all seven principals into a long-term action plan that you can turn to again and again. At this phase you may decide to add in some holistic practitioners if that is in your budget, but remember what you do for yourself and at home is powerful. This final principle is where you become your own advocate in an ongoing healing journey. From here you may circle back, moving through the principles again and making adjustments as needed for the best possible outcome. Think of the entire process as an upward spiral. This is about taking charge of your situation from a place of strength. You can.
