The 5-Step Process That Will Put Your Healing Journey on Autopilot

Over the past eight years I’ve strategized and experimented with various holistic approaches to successfully overcome cancer and chronic illness.

Below is the process I’ve identified to help simplify steps for your healing journey:   

 STEP 1: MINDSET: Identify One Belief You Have That is NOT Supporting Your Healing.

o   What is the thought that is holding you back?

o   Once you’ve identified the thinking that is getting in your way, come up with a new thought that you will consciously replace it with whenever it comes up, one that inspires you to move towards your vision for healing.

o   Take a few moments each day to consciously shift your mindset by thinking your new thought. Write it down (put it on a sticky note where you can see it daily). Read it aloud as an affirmation each day (3 times in a row or more).

STEP 2: REFLECTION: Explore What Most Needs to Change to Move You Closer to Healing.

o   Now examine your lifestyle and self-care, what areas might need to be reconsidered or changed to help bring about healing holistically?

§   Here are just some categories or areas you might consider: Diet/Food/Nutrition, Clean Water, Pure Air, Sleep Quality, Targeted Supplements/Herbs, Work/Workload, Stress Management (Relaxation), Joy/Fun/Laughter, Love/Relationships/Social Support, Exercise/Movement, Spirituality/Faith, Cleansing or Detoxification Techniques, Expert Support/Guidance…etc.

STEP 3: ACTION: Decide on 2 impactful actions (based on areas from the last step) that you feel are most urgent and important.

o   First make sure any action you choose aligns with the personal vision you have for your life and health and that you believe it will have a positive impact.

o   Decide what two actions you will take to create a new habit that will bring you closer to your healing vision. Think of inspired actions that are realistic for you.  Actions that are repeated daily for at least two weeks are most likely to become a habit.

STEP 4: ADJUST: Observe and reassess how the actions you’re taking are benefiting you, fitting into your routine and lifestyle, etc.

o   With holistic healing the most powerful impact usually comes through repetition of INSPIRED action, so check-in with yourself and adjust if needed for best results.

o  At this point, consider involving those you love in your process so they can help you be accountable to yourself and provide encouragement.

 STEP 5: CELEBRATION: Acknowledge your progress.

o   Give yourself praise for taking charge and undertaking changes. A holistic approach is not easy, but it is a rewarding and powerful process when you dedicate to it.

o   Designate time to make pampering yourself part of the routine… a relaxing bath, herbal tea, your favorite music…whatever feels good (that is also healthy;)
